The original building was designed by Bernard Maybeck and constructed as a hotel in 1915 before being transformed into a living space that honors its historical roots while incorporating affordable amenities. Being the first of its kind on the Oregon Coast with ocean views, it became a popular stop for stars such as Clark Gable and Bing Crosby. In fact, one of the rooms today is named the “Clark Gable Room”.
